Microsoft Query X For Mac
Posted By admin On 30.01.19The query files are no longer.iqy text files but executable files in a proprietary format that you can only create with Microsoft Query or the query wizard (not available on Mac). I spent half an hour on the support line to Microsoft about this, having paid for the 2016 version a few hours earlier. Turn on notifications for emails.
Well I suppose I should thank Ted for pointing to one of my web pages that is now out of date in a link that is linked to what Ted linked to (all this indirect linking getting to answer irks me). At any rate, Ted indirectly sends you to one of my pages: On that page I refer to example queries to MSN, and these don't work any more because Dow Jones put the kabosh on these particular web queries. They want $$ for that data now. Excel on the Mac comes without the fancy little web browser that the Windows version has that lets you visually set up web queries. On the Mac, you can use URL based web queries as described in the link. To the best of my knowledge the Yahoo examples should still be working.
I think you should be able to refresh web queries made in Excel for Windows even though the fancy little web browser isn't available. The selection cursor must be somewhere in the query result set when you attempt to refresh the query either by right-click or from the Ribbon. I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft.
